Calculate the fertile period with the menstrual cycle and perform periodic abstinence or better known as the calendar system is one way or the natural contraceptive methods (natural family planning) and simple that can be done by married couples by abstaining during fertile copulation.
This method is effective when done properly and correctly. With the use of a calendar system, each spouse may be planning each pregnancy. Before using this method, of course, married couples must know the fertile period.
Cycles in each woman’s fertile period is not the same. For that we need the observation of at least six menstrual cycles. Here’s how to recognize and calculate fertile period:
Assumption when regular menstrual cycles (28 days):
The first day of the menstrual cycle is calculated as the day-to-one
The fertile time is day to day-to-12-16 in the menstrual cycle
Example:
A wife got your period started on January 9. Dated January 9, is calculated as the day-to-1. So day-to-12 falls on 20 January and the day-to-16 falls on January 24. So fertile period ie from the date of January 20 till January 24. On these dates may not be husband and wife copulate. If you wish to copulate have to wear a condom or withdrawal (coitus which does not produce sperm inside).
When the irregular menstrual cycle:
Record the number of days in a menstrual cycle for 6 months (6 cycles). One menstrual cycle was calculated starting from the first day of menstruation until the day when this first next menstruation.
Shortest number of days in menstrual cycle six times minus 18. This count determines the first day of fertile period. The longest number of days during the six menstrual cycle minus 11. This count determines the last day of fertile period.
The formula:
First day of fertile period = Number of days the shortest – 18
The last day of fertile period = Number of days the longest – 11
Example:
A wife got a state of menstruation: the shortest cycle of 26 days and the longest cycle of 32 days (beginning the first day of menstruation until the next menstrual period)
The calculation is: 26-18 = 8 and 32-11 = 21. so fertile period is to begin day-to-8 up to 21 from the first day of menstruation. At this time a husband and wife should not copulate. If want to copulate have to wear a condom or withdrawal.
Contraception by using the calendar system can avoid the health risks associated with contraception. For families who struggle to get contraception is suitable for the use of this contraceptive method other than does not cost also does not need to find a place to contraceptive services.
Using a calendar system need good cooperation between the husband and wife because this method needs the will and discipline in the running mate. Quite a long period of abstinence will result in the couple can not wait to have sex at that time still abstaining. But it does not matter if it couples to get used to use condoms during fertile.
